While 2020 was a rollercoaster ride, when I look back to those 10 months I see a lot of positive changes in me and my lifestyle. So I thought to document everything here so that I can look back and remember that being stuck at home is not that bad after all.
Like everyone on the planet, I cribbed for the initial 2 months because suddenly the house chores were on me and most of the day I was cleaning and doing the dishes. I realized that the sink can never be empty, there will always be dirty dishes, no matter you did them like 5 seconds before.
After 2 months I got used to the new responsibilities and finally had proper time management. That’s when I thought to start my website and after discussing it with my friends and husband I decided to invest in my website and here we are! Although I haven’t been regular with writing, now I am determined to change that to be more consistent.
The next challenge I faced was that Aarav needed to be constantly engaged. He had just turned two and Covid took away his playschool from him. Like all moms, I had to give a shot at homeschooling. Honestly speaking, I was very scared because I had no structure. But with time we sailed through. We bonded over practical learning and house chores. And now when I look back, it was the most fun time we have spent together. Aarav has learnt the basics of baking a cake and makes his own banana shake every day.
Now coming to the most amazing part, I finally have my balcony garden now. I have been meaning to get plants for years and finally, in August 2020 I started with 4 indoor plants. Gradually kept adding new ones and now I have a small balcony garden. Each day I see them growing and making my day beautiful, one day at a time. Each day they remind me to breathe more and worry less. My every morning starts on a positive note.
I have cleaned their roots once and learned repotting. Learning about taking care of each plant has been an absolute bliss and toad I can proudly say, I am a plant mom.
I also tried my hands on new DIYs like making a cardboard bookshelf for Aarav, flowers using crochet and stockings, discovered that coloring calms me down, tried canvas painting, and learned video and photo editing as well.
Lastly, it was a year of self-care, self-discovery, and self-appreciation. It was a year of keeping a check on mental health and building a positive environment.I know my strengths and weaknesses better now. I have learned to be more confident in my skin and take pride in who I have become.
I hope this blog reminded you of all the positivity 2020 gave you. Please share your experience in the comments, I would love to read them.
